The stand came from a company named Unitron, not any of the companies listed in the headline. I have been buying Luxo and Ledu since the early 70s and I have six of them, so I know them well. I just purchased my latest Ledu from Amazon repackaged, and it is just as I expected so I bought this stand to match — I thought. To begin with, the quality of casting looks like the base was made in some guy's barn and heavily enameled to cover the flaws. Problem with that, the coat of enamel makes for much difficultly inserting parts such as the caster posts in their holes. Even worse, the fitting that is supposed to accept the lamp stem did not do so, without lots of beeswax and twisting. As it is, it will not spin as it should to rotate the lamp arm. I know because I have the original Luxo stand purchased in 1980. At any rate, I will ream out the resulting gunk and polish it so it works, and move on. I have chosen not to return this stand because I have the tools to correct the functional problems and I don't want to repack and return something that weighs this much. I chalk this one up to a teachable moment about ads and product descriptions on Amazon's site.
