Originally "Picture's" was a solo piano piece which Ravel like so much he orchestrated it! As a classical music major alum I was always fascinated by Maazel's power of orchestra. This guy could make Jimmy Page look like a 1st grader! Of course Ravel's genius of orchestration mite have had sumthing to do w/ that... At that time Telarc was the super-high end of the vinyl spectrum. In the '80's they went for about $20. ea.--as astronomical sum then (about $45-50 in 2days $$).
