Great product. -1 star because the packaging was subpar and resulted in cosmetic damaged during shipping. My desk came with no instructions (multiple people went through the box multiple times and found only a catalogue) and it took about two hours to put together with two people. It definitely would have taken less time with instructions because we wouldn’t have had to redo part of it. We guessed the order of doing things and got it wrong twice. There’s cosmetic damage to the lower desk and the particle board is visible which must have happened before the pieces were boxed up because it was packaged well. I’ve been using it for three weeks now and it seems to be holding up well. The crank is fairly smooth, but it takes a bit more elbow grease to get it to go down than it does to raise it.Overall, it’s a decent desk if you’re willing to give up an afternoon to put it together. It’s a great desk. It fit perfect in the spot I wanted it to go. Nice and spacious. The instructions was a bit annoying cause they give you 2 different things you have to do in each part instead on each being it’s own part. But it was pretty easy to put together.Due the pandemic and the mass migration to telework, I have had to setup a home office for the foreseeable future. We were looking for a good sit/stand desk for a reasonable price. We did quite a bit of research online, looking at manual v. electric, sit/stand desk v. table top converter, and different brands. We settled on the Tranzendesk 55" Dual level desk. I preferred the simplicity of the manual drive to raise and lower the desk. Without the electrical systems, this desk was much cheaper than some of the other options we were evaluating. I also appreciated the built-in cable management plate between the levels. I placed my monitor and laptop on the top level with my keyboard and mouse on the lower level, with additional room for my phone, a table, and fan. I am thinking of building a box/shelf the hang under the upper level to increase the cable management capacity and hide my power strip and network switch out of the way. If you plan to mount your monitor(s) on some sort of arm, you may prefer the single level Tranzendesk 55" to have a larger uninterrupted work surface. My fiance liked it so much, she bought one too, and plans to pair it with an under desk treadmill. I think it only took us 20 minutes to put it together with my ratcheting tools, but using the provided L allen wrenches would not have taken much longer. I do recommend using a good #2 Phillips screw driver, I found the provided one on the small side (#1 or #0). We are both standing and moving around more throughout the workday for the last week, so we are still adjusting, but it has been a good experience so far. The only nitpick I have is it seems to be just a bit wobbly front to back, but this could be due to them sitting on padded carpet. I am sure this would be more stable on a hardwood floor. Not sure what I was expecting, but I guess for what I paid, I was expecting something a little less bare bones. My husband wanted an adjustable desk so he could stretch his back throughout the work day. He did not want an electric or a hydraulic lift desk--he said it goes against his KISS principal. So the hand crank was the only option for him, but it's a very small crank and it takes a lot of turns to raise the desk. It's the desk equivalent of a Fred Flintstone car. Also, I feel like this desk is kind of chintzy, and I can't stand that there is no cord management built into this desk. I think for $400 there should be something that keeps the cords under control. The riser shelf is a good height for the monitor, and the desk does crank up high enough for my 6'3" husband. I actually picked this one because it had the highest height of all the adjustable desks. The desk surface (the lower level) is very shallow. It's enough for a keyboard and a mousepad, but not much else. In some ways, that's good because it will force my husband to keep his desk relatively clean, but if you need a lot of work surface this is NOT the desk for you. I definitely could not use it as a paralegal with all the paperwork and legal size files that are crossing my desk. I am also not thrilled with the material. It's very industrial, but not in a good way. I feel like it's out of place in our home office, and would be better suited for a work office space. My biggest gripe is that all the cords are just hanging behind the desk and since there is no back wall to the desk, you can see the tangle of wires. If you have one cord, I guess it would not be a big deal, but my husband has 2 laptops, 2 monitors, the router, a phone, plus all the other accessory cords- mouse/keyboard etc. It's really messy and now I want to put a door up because it irritates me every time I walk past his office. I was not home when my husband, but it took him a few hours, and he's usually pretty good assembling furniture, so I'd say it was probably more complicated than not. I would not buy this desk again if I were to do it over again. After over a year of WFH and my posture and back issues getting worse and worse, I finally decided to get an adjustable desk and I selected this one. It is fantastic. There's a hand-crank that can be used on the left or right side, and I use it to adjust the desk height based on how I'm sitting at the moment. When I want to stretch my legs or even do squats why listening to a meeting or watching a video, I crank it up to a standing position. The crank moves smoothly and is very easy. Got the desk in black and it looks nice and is sturdy. Glad I got the desk with the monitor riser - It helps with my posture and makes eye contact during video calls easier (and more flattering than an under chin view). It arrived within days of my order, the box was in good condition and had everything. It was rather heavy though. The instructions were actually fantastic: They had sketches of each part and assigned letters to them, and then those letters were marked on the parts themselves. Like the screws had A, B, etc. written on them. Super easy. From start to finish, opening the box, laying out the parts, reviewing the instructions, and actually assembling, it was probably 45 minutes.
