Dark forces are at work at the House of Night and fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird's adventures at the school take a mysterious turn. Those who appear to be friends are turning out to be enemies. And oddly enough, sworn enemies are also turning into friends. So begins the gripping third installment of this "highly addictive series" (Romantic Times), in which Zoey's mettle will be tested like never before. Her best friend, Stevie Rae, is undead and struggling to maintain a grip on her humanity. Zoey doesn't have a clue how to help her, but she does know that anything she and Stevie Rae discover must be kept secret from everyone else at the House of Night, where trust has become a rare commodity. Speaking of rare: Zoey finds herself in the very unexpected and rare position of having three boyfriends. Mix a little bloodlust into the equation and the situation has the potential to spell social disaster. Just when it seems things couldn't get any tougher, vampyres start turning up dead. Really dead. It looks like the People of Faith, and Zoey's horrid step-father in particular, are tired of living side-by-side with vampyres. But, as Zoey and her friends so often find out, how things appear rarely reflects the truth…Chosen is the third in the House of Night series by P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast.
Let me start out by saying that I think this book is mainly for teenagers who can understand the plot and all the mistakes that Zoey makes. This book left me breathless. I loved it from the beginning and it kept me reading all the way until the very last page, upon which I immediately downloaded the next book on my kindle and began on her next one.Zoey's Friends: First off let me begin by saying that zoey's best friend was Stevie ray...in fact still is if you count the undead Stevie Ray. While some people think that it is silly that her group (Damien, Jack, & the twins) don't know that she doesn't like "birthmas" presents, let me remind you that she has only been at the house of night for 2 months, and that there are groups within groups. Stevie Ray & Zoey....The Twins (duh)... and Jack & Damian...oh and Eric but he doesn't really stay in the group for very long and let's face it, they haven't been together long and Zoey seems very not interested in Eric. Anyways, her friends are there for her throughout the entire book until they find out about all the lies and half truths that she has been telling them, and then (rightfully so) they leave her, feeling hurt (as any teenager would) and stupid (in the case of the twins who had been ogling zoeys new "lover). However they are true friends and quickly overcome the hurt in the next book.Zoeys Boyfriends:A: Heath: Okay let's face it, he is the boyfriend we all care about least...he is human, and besides the blood lust very boring, however he is sweet and has true feelings (in my opinion) for zoey.B. Erik Knight: Sooo Fiiiiiiine (as the twins would say) yes, Zoey picked well in boyfriends, if only she could have actually spend some time throughout the book with said boyfriend *sighs* I liked Erik best and hoped they would be able to work it out...however the nice guy does normally finish last.C. Loren *dreamboat* poet extraordinaire <3 The man that all of us readers see as soooo sweet, he is the perfect guy, he says all the right things, makes Zoey feel like a woman, and is forbidden (duh that makes us want him more) but come on, we all know he is bad from the get go and while I am hoping for the best as Zoey makes love to him, I am horrified when Erik *sighs* walks in on them, and even more horrified when Zoey's imprint with Heath is destroyed and then we find out that Loren betrayed zoey...and then he is dead *ugh* come on I totally wanted more of Loren Blake even though he was horrible.Zoey & Stevie RaySome of the best scenes take place with these to characters, your heart bleads for both of them because we love Stevie Ray (and we all cried when she died) and we want Zoey to be able to fix her (but we are sad because Stevie Ray is loosing her humanity and poor Zoey needs her best friend.)Zoey & Neferet...okay this issue totally wasn't resolved almost nothing happened the whole book regarding these two...let's cross our fingers that more happens in the next bookAll in all, I completely never see anything coming in these books, they leave me shocked, stunned, upset, and wanting more. I have cried 3 times while reading these books once when Stevie Ray dies, Once when Erik Confronts Zoey, and once when...well keep reading and find out...Hope this helped! These are great books!Oh also a note to all of you older people who think that the relationship between Zoey & Loren is "illegal & Gross" Come on....the whole point of becoming a fledgling is that the rules aren't the same, and Loren is like 3 years older then her...come OOOOOOOOOOOOON (Yes like I said this is more for teenagers, adults think 3 years is soooooo wrong...come on people, it's a book)Also the twins...they are not cartoonish, they are cute and meant to be so....linked and close and have a special bond....<3
