Dionne Warwick is a glorious talent with a career that has spanned decades and many different styles of music. She is also unique for as she matured her voice gained new unique stylish qualities so it seems that as each important part of her career was crossed she had a different unique styling to her voice. Of course I always knew of Dionne Warwick but I am one of those of the generation who was first truly inroduced to her with I'LL NEVER LOVE THIS WAY AGAIN. Her glorious Arista debut with Barry Manilow DIONNE was her first platinum release and a huge Grammy success. So succesful that a follow-up became a concern. How can you top a recording that by many was pure perfection. Luckily when you ahave an artist with the vocal range and emotive delivery of Dionne Warwick and a talent like Clive Davis who was the head of Arista you stretch a little further having full faith in the talent of Ms. Dionne and come up with an album just as great.NO NIGHT SO LONG is an amazing set from Dionne Warwick and continues the classy, elegant performances from the previous release without being repetitious. The title song was and is an instant classic. I can't listen to it without tears coming to my eyes. And the rest of the songs are stellar. We open with the light and breezy EASY LOVE which sets the mood perfectly. Dionne works magic on the ballads WHEN THE WORLD RUNS OUT OF LOVE and HOW YOU ONCE LOVED ME. Her version of WE HAD THIS TIME is superb. I love her vocal quality at this period of her career. Her voice got a husky undertone without taking away her amazing range and ability to hold long notes. And of course her biggest gift is the emotion with which she tackles all her songs. I also love this cd for the uptempo numbers are in no way dated. The album was released in 1980 and it was a tricky period for fast numbers but the ones here are solid. IT'S THE FALLING IN LOVE, REACHING FOR THE SKY and SWEETIE PIE are such fun and in no way waste the talents of Dionne.The digital remastering here is of the highest quality and the sound is superb. There are also indepth liner notes. The three bonus tracks are also not wasted add-ons. DEDICATE THIS HEART is another fast uptempo and THIS TIME IS OURS is a perfect example of Warwick magic. Dionne has done so many albums over the span of her career but there are the select few that stand out above the rest. NO NIGHT SO LONG is one of them. It represents her true talent, presents her at her best in one of the most popular time periods of her career and becomes not just one of Dionne's best but just a representation of great music. The whole package here is superb and a must for Dionne lovers as well as lovers of quality music. Highly recommend.
